The new 2017 Kia Kona is the second-generation Grand Cherokee SUV, and the first Grand Cherokee to come with the GM Grand Cherokee Performance package.
The 2017 Kona was introduced at the Detroit auto show last week, and we can confirm that it is a new, redesigned Grand Cherokee with the same 2.6-liter four-cylinder engine, the same 8-speed automatic transmission and the same 3.7-liter EcoBoost diesel engine.
This means that it has the same overall dimensions as the previous Grand Cherokee but has a few changes.
The Grand Cherokee performance package offers performance improvements, like suspension dampers and an additional rear seat with additional legroom.
The Grand Cherokee S models come with an updated six-speed manual transmission and a new four-wheel-drive system.
The S is expected to go on sale in 2018, while the rest of the lineup will go on the market later this year.
We’re expecting to see a lot of new and improved Grand Cherokee SUVs on the road, especially in the U.S. The automaker has already launched a few models in the new model range, including the Grand Cherokee Frontier, the new Kona, the Kia Niro, the Chevrolet Silverado and the Chevrolet Impala.
The new 2018 Grand Cherokee is the first model to be sold in the United States with a six-cylinders engine.
The new Kias will debut in 2019, and GM says that the first models will go up for pre-order this summer.
