The first ad buys Ray’s Auto Parts, a Detroit auto parts manufacturer, from an independent car dealership, an independent dealership, and the auto parts company itself, a New York Times review has found.
The ad buys a Cadillac Escalade and a 2015 Nissan Titan SUV.
A similar ad buys an older Ford Escape from an auto parts retailer.
The ads have run on television in the U.S. and in Canada.
Ray’s is owned by the billionaire Raymond T. Rainey Jr., who is a major investor in Tesla, according to The Times.
The Times said that in addition to the ads, the dealership’s website and phone number, which is on the company’s website, have also been purchased for a total of $300,000.
The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The Associated Press and The Wall Street Journal are independently owned and operated.
